The known Taiwanese multinational computer hardware and electronics company Asus that was founded in 1989 has a new offering for all smartphone users out there that loves the virtual or augmented reality. It was reported when the announcement from Qualcomm was leaked in advance of Asus January 4 CES press conference. It was revealed that Asus is working with Google to create a smartphone that does both the virtual reality and augmented reality. It was learned that it will be the Asus Zenfone AR, a smartphone that merges the Google's Daydream View VR platform and its Tango depth-sensing cameras and will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 processor. The likely photo of Asus Zenfone AR was posted before leaks and since then, it was given a title as the best smartphone in CES 2017.
The Asus Zenfone AR is the world’s first augmented reality and virtual reality smartphone. It’s an Android smartphone that is sensor-filled and runs Google Tango AR software and the Google Daydream VR platform using the Daydream View headset. It was first seen at CES 2017. According to Asus Smartphones “the Asus Zenfone AR is the world’s first 5.7-inch smartphone with Tango and Daydream by Google. Tango is an exciting new augmented reality (AR) technology that changes the way you interact with the world and expands your vision. And with Daydream, you can experience high-quality, immersive virtual reality (VR) with your phone. Tango is a set of sensors and computer vision software that gives ZenFone AR the ability to understand space and motion like humans do, which gives ZenFone AR augmented reality capabilities that feel positively futuristic. Tango adds motion tracking, depth perception, and area learning capabilities to Asus Zenfone AR, so it can understand its motion as it moves through an area, detect how far way it is from the floor, walls, and objects, and see and remember the key visual features of a physical space in three-dimensional space.”
True to that, Asus Zenfone AR has a lot of innovative cool technology behind it to make this possible such as SonicMaster 3.0 technology, an advanced Vapor cooling system and the three rear cameras, as the Asus Zenfone AR is equipped with the “‘TriCam” system that is composed of three cameras such as the motion tracking, depth sensing, and high-resolution 23MP camera that enables the phone to a create a three-dimensional model of its surroundings and track its motion. Because of these, according to the Asus website " it can see the world just like you do. The motion tracking camera lets Asus ZenFone AR track its location as it moves through space. The depth sensing camera with an infrared (IR) projector lets ZenFone AR measure its distance from real-world objects. The high-resolution 23MP camera lets you view virtual objects in your actual environment in stunning detail. Together with Tango, ZenFone AR delivers engaging augmented reality experiences for you to explore and enjoy.”
The Asus Zenfone AR delivers a 5.7 inch display in a 2560 X 1440 quad HD resolution and is protected by the Gorilla Glass 4. It runs in Android 7.0 Nougat in support of 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB of internal storage and mechanized by the Snapdragon 821 chipset with the Adreno 530 for the GPU and has a power capacity of 3300 mAh of battery.
There’s no doubt that the Asus Zenfone AR is one of the most powerful Smartphone this 2017. It really pushed the smartphone specs beyond anything that has been delivered before coupled with the quad HD display and an optimized chipset. It is set to be released by the second quarter of this year to fully experience the futuristic innovations that Asus integrated in this smartphone.
