Previously, the Chinese Smartphone manufacturer OnePlus released an aluminum build for the first time in the company’s history. To make the aluminum model of OnePlus 3T, the company collaborated with Colette in France to release 250 units of OnePlus 3T Colette edition, which has a sleek black design. We believe the Chinese startup will do the same thing, too, this year for OnePlus 5 Special Edition.
OnePlus X Jean-Charles de Castelbajac
It is reported that OnePlus has shared invitations for a launch event on September 19 in Paris. For its new model, OnePlus won’t be collaborating with Colette, but with Jean-Charles de Castelbajac instead. For those who don’t know, Castelbajac is a very popular French designer so we can expect the OnePlus 5 special edition will have an elegant and unique design.
You can see from the invitation above that the event will be held in Le Trianon, Paris on September 19. There’s also a line that reads, ‘Quand Le style Rencontre sa machine une muit de Septembre à Paris…’, meaning ‘When the style meets its machine, one night in September in Paris…’.
We don’t know for sure whether the invitation is about the special version of OnePlus 5 or new accessories. If the Chinese startup announced a special model of its OnePlus 5, it’s will be available in limited quantities and only able to be purchased in the selected region just like the OnePlus 3T Colette Edition.
It’s also good to note that a special edition model usually carries an expensive price tag. Be sure to save up money if you consider buying OnePlus 5 limited version. There might be no significant differences between the original to the special edition. It probably differs in colors and the limited models will have the designer logo on its back panel.
Now, the OnePlus 5 is available in Midnight Black, Slate Gray, and Soft Gold color options. We believe that OnePlus 5 Jean-Charles de Castelbajac version will provide new color choices.
OnePlus 5 Special Edition Specification
To refresh your memory, OnePlus 5 originally released in this year’s June, sporting two color options of Midnight Black and Slate Gray. A few months later, the Chinese Smartphone Manufacturer also introduced the Soft Gold color choice for its Android flagship.
The Colette Edition came with a matte black finish but boasted the same specification as the original OnePlus 3T. Nevertheless, a rumor says that OnePlus 5 Jean-Charles de Castelbajac model will have not only new color options but also improved specs.
For the hardware platform, OnePlus 5 measures a 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED FHD display panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Just like other high-end Smartphones, it employs Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC (System on Chip).
OnePlus 5 has two choices of internal storage, the 64GB model and the 128GB variant. Each has 6GB of RAM and 8GB of RAM, respectively. It also carries a 3,300 mAh battery capacity.
In terms of lenses, OnePlus 5 boasts a 16MP and 20 MP dual rear cameras, whereas the front snapper comes with a 16MP. Other features include dual-SIM support, VoLTE, a fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 5.0, and USB Type-C port.
