SAMSUNG GALAXY A series 2017; Galaxy A3, A5 and A7

Early January this year Samsung announced three versions of Samsung Galaxy A series for 2017.Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5 and their big brother Galaxy A7. Keep calm because these are not the same as the once we had before. They are new and probably better. The three phones have some similarities, but as we go higher, some specifications get bigger and better. For example, all the three phones are water and dustproof, and they are IP68 certified - dust/water proof over 1.5 meters and 30 minutes. However, we expected nothing less.

According to low down the president of mobile communication business at a press release said that “At Samsung, we are always trying to ensure our customers have the most advanced products on the market.”

Talking of how big and heavy they are, starting from the smallest we have the Samsung Galaxy A3 measuring 135.4 x 66.2 x 7.9 mm and 138 g. Followed by the A5, 146.1 x 71.4 x 7.9 mm, 157g then the Galaxy A7 156.8 x 77.6 x 7.9 mm and186g on the scale. You will realize that the higher we go in the series, the bigger the phone gets and heavier, however, the thickness has remained constant. Galaxy A7 seems to be very thin considering it’s the giant among the three phones.

When it comes to screen all the three phones, spot a Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen that can display up to 16M colors. Nevertheless, the have different screen sizes resolutions and screen to body ratios. Galaxy A3 has a 4.7 inches (67.9% screen-to-body ratio), 720 x 1280 pixels (312 PPI pixel density). Samsung Galaxy A5 has a 5.2 inches (71.5% screen-to-body ratio). 1080 x 1920 pixels. Galaxy A7 5.7 inches (73.6% screen-to-body ratio) 1080 x 1920 pixels. It’s good to note that the screens are covered with gorilla glass 4 that is scratch resistant.

These smartphones are powered by Samsung Galaxy A3 Exynos 7870 Octa-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A53 Mali-T830. A5 Exynos 7880 Octa-core 1.9 GHz Cortex-A53 Mali-T830MP3. Exynos 7880 Octa-core 1.9 GHz coupled with Cortex-A53 Mali-T830MP3. Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 are using the same processor CPU and GPU but it’s different from the one Galaxy A3 is using. It is also clocking at a lower speed. However, all the three processors have eight cores.

When it comes to the RAM and capacity,Samsung Galaxy A3 packs a 2GB RAM and a 16 GB capacity. On the other hand, A5 and A7 have 3GB RAM and a memory of 32GB on all three flagships the memory is expandable to a maximum of 256 GB.

Samsung Galaxy A5 and A7 have the same camera size that is 16 MP both the primary and secondary cameras. Also, they both take videos that are 1080p@30fps. The Galaxy A3 has a dual camera too that is 13 MP for the main camera and 8 MP Selfie camera. These phones have equally great cameras. Samsung phones are known for their magnificent cameras, and these phones take sharp and bright photos and selfies. More camera features include Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, and panorama.

When it comes to the battery, all the three phones have different sizes although all of them are inbuilt. Starting from the largest is the A7 that packs a 3600mAh, A5 3000mAh and finally the A3 2350mAh.I guess the size of the battery depends on the other specifications the phone has.

From techweez, we get to know that “Samsung Cloud, a feature that lets users store content for free in the cloud (up to 15GB) which was introduced in the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7, is also making its way to Samsung’s latest mid-range smartphones.”

Galaxy A5 and A7 are pretty much the same in many features and it goes without doubt that the new Galaxy A series are phones to go for.
