Aside from the cream of the crop the Sony Xperia XZ Premium and XZs smartphone, Sony also unveiled their mid-range offering in the Mobile World Congress at Barcelona, Spain. Sony introduces the Sony Xperia XA1 and Xperia XA Ultra as the two successors to the last year’s Xperia XA and XA Ultra. The Sony Xperia XA1 is a 5 inch 720p screen smartphone that runs from edge to edge in a slight curve that delivers a real astonishing design and sits comfortably in your hand, though it still have a large top and bottom bezels. It takes so much from Sony’s traditional design and borrows components from previous Xperia models that delivers quality specs, not to mention the large pixel count in the camera as it boast the 23 megapixel count in the rear camera.
Last April 03, this mid-range offering from an electronics giant, goes on sale in Hong Kong on April 3 after it was officially unveiled last February at the MWC. It bears the price tag of HK $2,498 or about $320 U.S. dollars. The variant that has been launched is the dual SIM version that also features a dual SIM tray in addition of separate slot for the micro SD card for the additional storage up to 256 GB of memory to store photos, videos, and music. The color options for the Sony Xperia XA1 that was released on Hong Kong are white, black, gold, and pink. Malaysian Xperia fans should not be jealous, as the XA1 is already available to pre-order and may experience what’s in store for this mid-range offering. European Xperia fans can mark their calendar as the European launch is set for next week, April 10.
One of the main selling points of this device is the large amount of megapixel in its rear camera. The Sony Xperia XA1 boasts a 23 megapixel rear shooter in Exmor RS mobile sensor in F2.0 wide lens aperture. Sony claims that the more pixel in camera phone will yields more light and “best in class images” though, it remains to be seen how it will fare in the actual camera tests. The front facing camera is mechanized by an 8 megapixel shooter that has a 23 mm wide-angle lens that enables the user to fill a lot of friends in a selfie picture.
Features wise, Sony still delivers a promising performance in the XA1 as according to Sony the Sony Xperia XA1 has “a power-efficient processor, where you get a quicker and smoother user experience, whether you browse the web, watch a video or play your favorite game. It also has a Smart Cleaner that automatically deactivates the apps you don’t use and clears the cache, to optimize the storage and memory.”. In terms of battery department, Sony equips it with 2300 mAh of non-removable battery with Quick charge technology and with Qnovo Adaptive Charging that monitors the battery conditions like temperature and pressure. It also adjusts the charging currents to maximize the lifespan of the battery of Sony Xperia XA1. It still has the Stamina mode that can be seen from the previous iterations of Sony Xperia smartphones, as the Stamina mode prolong the battery lifetime of the Sony devices to help you to go through the day. Even being a mid-range phone, Sony Xperia XA1 is still a smart one, as it also comes with a feature that adapt to your habits.
