Sony Xperia XZ1 Specs Review:Successor of XZ Shows Premium Platform

The latest leak of Sony Xperia XZ1 has surfaced on the internet, showing the body design of the device from all angles. This new information reaffirms the previous image of Xperia XZ1’s rear panel. Along with the images, the leak also tells us the phone’s key specification. Let’s find out below.

Sony Xperia XZ1 Specification

From the specs, we can see that Sony Xperia XZ1 offers outstanding features and processor. This could be Sony’s answer to Samsung’s challenge after the latter become the King of Android with its Samsung Galaxy S8 over the past months. Can this baby really win against Samsung Galaxy S8? Let’s review the specs one by one.

Body design

We can see from the leak images that Sony Xperia XZ1 is compact about 8.2mm thin and made out of metal. Although bezel-less Smartphones are on the hype right now, this device houses some chunky top and bottom bezels. This, however, is to make room for the dual front-facing speakers.

Sony’s latest mobile also offers two options of SIM, single (Nano-SIM) and dual (Nano-SIM, dual standby). Just like its predecessor, this gadget will also boast IP68 certification for dust/water proof over 1.5 meters and 30 minutes duration

The leak images further reveal the color options that this mobile has. Apparently, this Smartphone will have three different choices, which are mineral black, platinum, forest blue (just like in the leak images above), and deep pink.

Display screen

Sony Xperia XZ1 will measure a 5.2-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16 colors, having a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels (~424ppi pixel density). Because of the multi-touch ability, the sensitivity of the display panel is up to 10 fingers.

Just like recent Android handsets nowadays, Sony’s latest build will use the Corning Gorilla Glass (unspecified version) for protection. Combined with Triluminos display and X-Reality Engine, this gadget’s screen will work smoothly and look solid.

Since the Android 8.0 is almost out, it’s not surprising to see that Sony’s latest handset will run on Google’s latest OS series out of the box. This device will be another Android handset that employs the Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835. For the CPU, Xperia XZ1 will use Octa-core 4 x 2.35 GHz Kryo & 4x1.9 GHz Kryo clock speed alongside with Adreno 540 for the graphic (GPU).

Memory and Battery

This Android flagship phone has a 64GB or 128GB options for the internal storage with both sports the same amount of 4GB of RAM. It’s possible to expand the in-built memory via microSD (up to 256GB) both for the single dedicated slot for the single SIM and using the SIM 2 slot for the dual SIM option.

For the battery, we don’t know for sure yet about the capacity. However, we do know that this Japanese Smartphone manufacturer will use the non-removable Li-lon mAh battery like other mobile brands.

Camera and Video

For the camera set up, Sony Xperia XZ1 will boast dual camera sensors with a 23MP f/2.0 aperture main rear camera (24mm), completed with EIS (gyro), laser autofocus, and LED flash, alongside with a 13MP of secondary camera that can be used to record video up to 2160p.

Common features like 1/2.3" sensor size, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, and panorama are available for both front and back cameras. In terms of video, you can record a video in these options, 2160p and 1080p for 30fps and 1080p for 60fps.

Sony’s phones are very famous with its sound feature. Will this handset also have a remarkable sound system? The leak shows that Sony Xperia XZ1 will still have the loudspeaker (stereo) trait, which supports MP3, and WAV ringtones (24-bit/192kHz audio).

There will be a 3.5mm headphone jack located on the top bezel. You can also reduce the noise when playing music or making a phone call by activating noise cancellation with dedicated mic.

Sony Xperia XZ1 will carry all the common connectivity that almost all major Android handset brands have like WLAN (Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, hotspot), Bluetooth (4.2, A2DP, aptX, LE), GPS (A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS), NFC, and USB (3.1, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector; USB Host). Unfortunately, there’s no radio for this handset.

There’s nothing special about the features, sporting also the same common features that most phones have. Sony Xperia XZ1 will have a fingerprint reader (side-mounted) as well as the accelerometer, gyro, proximity, barometer, compass, and color spectrum.

Sony’s latest Smartphone won’t have Java and will use HTML 5 for the browser alongside SMS (threaded view), MMS, Email, IM, and Push Email for the messaging. To refill the battery quickly, the device will use the fast battery charging (Quick Charge 3.0).

You can also expect these features like Xvid/MP4/H.265 player, MP3/eAAC+/WAV/Flac player, document viewer, and photo/video editor on Sony Xperia XZ1.

For the pricing, This Smartphone will have an $800 or 600 EUR price tags. It’s good to note that this information can change anytime since the mobile itself hasn’t officially announced yet.
