Chinese Smartphone manufacturers have shown their fangs in the Android market. Brands like Huawei and OPPO have become very famous and the manufacturers manage to ship more phones even outside China. After a tumultuous 2016, Xiaomi is now following in OPPO and Huawei’s footsteps by focusing on the offline sector to boost sales. The result turned out to be remarkable. Let’s see the details in the subheading below.
Global mobiles vendor shipments and market share in Q2 2017 (Xiaomi)
Just recently, Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun shared the result of a research firm, Strategy Analytics, on Weibo. The report showed that Xiaomi has returned to its former place as the fifth largest Smartphones vendor shipments and market share in the world.
You can see the full result from the picture below. By looking at the report, we can see that Samsung with its Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus shipped two percent more Android handsets in the second quarter of 2017 compared to the same period last year.
Samsung’s Smartphones sales reached 79, 5 million out of 360 million units worldwide, making it sit strongly on its position as the top mobile-maker in the world. It’s not surprising for Samsung to be on the list, however, it’s quite interesting seeing Xiaomi is on the list for the first time in a year.
Despite its recent struggles, Xiaomi puts up a good fight and its phone sales have been climbing recently. The Chinese tech manufacturer annual shipment has ballooned by 58 percent, taking over six percent of the world shipment in Q2. This could happen thanks to its budget Smartphone, Xiaomi Redmi 4A, which received an amazing number of demands in India. The Redmi 4A continues to sell well six months after its release.
From the result, we can see that Xiaomi managed to ship about 23.2 million units and the company’s market share was at 6, 4 percent. This looks very promising, especially since the numbers mentioned above are received from the beginning of last month.
Another device that other than Xiaomi and Samsung in the top five lists is Apple, which still in the second place. The company’s shipments are one percent higher than the same period last year. Apple sold about 41 million units and that number will certainly increase when the company launches its iPhone 8.
Other Chinese Smartphones than occupied the third and the fourth place in that list are Huawei and OPPO, respectively. With Huawei manages to ship 38.4 million products and OPPO from 18 million items in 2016 to 29.5 million units in the same quarter this year. Moreover, the OPPO Company also successfully lures customers away from the likes of ZTE, LG, and Alcatel in China, India, and Europe.
The research company, Strategy Analytics also showed that the worldwide Android market able to increase the number of global shipments to 360.4 million products. This is a significant increase compared to the 341.5 million units from last year.
